Darth Vader amigurumi

Crochet_DarthVaderI recently made Luke Skywalker for a little boy, and I deceived to make Darth Vader for his big brother. Being a boy, I can image a crochet doll is not so cool, and being dressed totally black was a challenge as well.

So I paid extra attention to detail and interaction. I used two different kinds of black, which gives a little more variation in his outfile. I also found an example of an amigurumi where the helmet could be removed. A nice extra, for now the doll will have a face, which makes him more human. I made the mouth a small line, not smiling but not angry as well. I think he is mostly distressed.

Where Luke’s belt is more a rope holding his lightsaber, Vader’s belt is a functional one, broad and with buttons on it. It matches the frontpart of his robe, which can be removed.

Stripping Vader of his belt, helmet and robe makes him kind of sad I think…
